Every AEM Cold Air induction system features an individually tuned, mandrel-bent 6061 aluminum inlet pipe for each specific application. AEM tests many combinations, and tunes the length and diameter of each intake system to work with an engines harmonics (resonance frequencies) to help carry more air to the inlet valves across the RPM range. This translates into more power where you need it, when you need it.
Its a thermal dynamic fact that cooler air is more oxygen dense. Since oxygen is an integral part of the combustion process, the more you bring in the bigger the explosion in your combustion chamber, and the more power you make. That is why AEM relocates the filter outside of the engine compartment with their Cold Air intakes.
Every intake system AEM manufactures includes a complete hardware kit and comprehensive installation instructions. AEM hates going to the shop in the middle of an installation as much as you do, so they make sure to include everything you need to properly install your cold air intake.
AEM has used soft mounts since it conceived the Cold Air back in 1995. In addition to guaranteeing a perfect fit, their soft mounts provide a flexible pivot point for the intake where it mounts to the chassis to prevent added stress on the mounting bracket, which could cause it to break.
On systems that have long inlets or when the bracket carries an unusual amount of stress, AEM incorporates a load distribution flange (plinth) that spreads the load across the surface of the intake pipe, instead of directly on the bracket welds, which could cause failure. AEM also TIG welds all of the brackets and fittings for the best durability. AEM offers its Cold Air intakes in a variety of finishes to match your vehicles personality.
